My state has legalized both medicinal and recreational weed. Anyone over the age of twenty-one with a valid government-issued ID can step inside a dispensary and shop an array of cannabis products. Medicinal marijuana passed state legislation several years prior to adult-use. I immediately set up an appointment with a doctor and completed the process, paperwork and cost to qualify for my MMJ card. Once recreational weed was allowed, I considered no longer bothering with the card. However, there are some advantages that make the investment of time and money worthwhile. Because of my MMJ card, I don’t pay tax on my purchases at the dispensary. I’ve added it up and avoiding the tax more than covers the cost of the MMJ card. I’ve also signed up for the dispensary’s loyalty program. I earn points on purchases that I can apply to future savings and benefit from special discounts on new strains. Plus, I am able to buy a larger quantity and greater potency of cannabis products. The severity of my health issues makes cannabis a daily necessity. I combine multiple consumption methods and strains to elevate my quality of life. Cannabis helps me to sleep at night, keep up with my work responsibilities and avoid pain, discomfort and anxiety. Creating a treatment plan was a time-consuming and stressful process. I don’t want to tamper with my medicine. I am willing to pay just about anything to elevate my health and wellness. The doctor I work with has gotten to know me by this point and I’m very familiar with the requirements of applying for my card. Renewing it isn’t difficult.
